From the Big Data to the forecasting technology road map's

Abstract

The technology planning process is a methodology that guides strategic decisions in organizations regarding investments in future technology projects where there are significant uncertainties and risks in their predictions. However don't do surveys about the possible developments of the technology is not an option. The expectation is to be able to identify, select and develop technology alternatives to satisfy a series of future needs of products, processes and/or services. And do this with a success rate appropriate to the company's sustainability. Technological Forecasting Road Maps (TFRM's) are used by organizations that invest in processes to generate science, technology and innovation. Its function is to present, align and identify the technologies needed to achieve its goals and provide the information to develop the most appropriate technology at the right time. The success of a good map to support: (a) the involvement of the right people, (b) on the methodology and tools used, and (c) in effective prospecting information used. In Brazil, some larger companies already use the elaboration of TFRM's as part of its strategic planning, however only some of these processes are supported by appropriate computational tools. The justification of this research is to try to fill this gap and at the same time make this methodology more accessible to smaller organizations. This research focuses on the factors (b) and (c) mentioned above. As regards the methodology will be used the most often adopted by knowledge and innovation-intensive companies. The biggest contribution will be given in the computational tools, where open-source scripts that already dominate will be integrated with some objects, which we will develop in the course of the project, so as to produce a reasonably comprehensive system of support to technological routes mapping and detection of emerging research fronts. As regards item (c), the tools will make mining in scientific bases using regular expressions to eliminate ambiguities and statistical techniques and analysis of complex networks to detect and extract the information necessary for the preparation of TFRM's also Web pages, blogosphere and eventually twitter will be mined to analyze the component users ' expectations for the possible developments of technologies, products and services in the MRTs. The research involves the analysis of technical feasibility (proof of concept) and the economic viability of the proposed development as a business. The expected impacts are: (a) greater agility in the development of TRM's and generation of alternatives; (b) greater breadth and depth in the content of the maps; greater ease in updating of MRTs, this should be considered a "document" alive.
