Abstract

The present propose embraces four projects with the general aim of developing technologies for use in projects of environmental recovering in large, medium and small scales. The first project (of large scale) goals to elaborate a land cover map for qualify areas in relation to the potential of recovering and considering the principle of spontaneous colonization, and also develop and propos alternatives of connectors of forest fragments for regions classified as medium or bad. The second project (of medium scale) aims testing the effectiveness of two nucleation techniques in urban, public gardens, towards incrementing the local biodiversity. The third project (also of medium scale) goals diagnosing three concreted stretches (20 meters long each one) sited in three different streams for subsequently proposing suitable solutions in terms of landscaping and ecology, for improving the local environmental quality, since concreted stretches of streams are common in urban areas and low attention has been done in ecological terms for such locals, especially in Brazil. In the fourth project (of small scale) the objective will be constructing and after testing bio-blankets which will constructed with grass fibers, with incorporated seeds of native herbaceous species, for: control the erosive process and/or recuperate the degraded soil and/or control the expansion of brachiaria grass. All projects will be carried out in Sorocaba and they will be conducted by Master Science or Doctorate students and helped by students of Environmental Engineering students (such Engineering students will carry out their Research Projects for Conclusion of Graduation Course). Taking into account that environmental problems occur in several spatial scales, but with mutual influence each other, we assumed that the solution of problems of a determined scale might help the solution of problems in others scales. Among the main expected outcomes we highlight: development of human resources (experts) in environmental recovery, development and presentation of techniques and products of low cost for solution of common problems of environmental degradation and publication of papers in scientific, international and indexed journals.
