Abstract

The present research project aims at presenting the activities to be performed by Prof. Dr. Carlos Eduardo Keutenedjian Mady of the Energy Department of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the State University of Campinas. The main objectives of the research project are: to formalize the research line and to create a group of bio-thermodynamics and bio-heat transfer in the institution. Therefore, the researcher will use the human thermal model and the exergy method proposed in previous analyses which take into account the exergy terms from the oxidation of nutrients (glucose, amino acids and lipids ) to hydrolysis and formation of the molecule responsible for obtaining energy in the body, known as ATP (adenosine triphosphate). Hence, from the present research project it will be possible to propose new steps for the Thermodynamic understanding of living systems through the concepts of the First and Second Laws of Thermodynamics.
