Abstract

In order to alleviate the computational effort in many transport phenomena problems it is interesting have information regarding the local and/or instantaneous temperature as well as the temperature distribution in the domain of the problem. This project is part of the cooperation project: "Brazil-China Joint Research Center for Three-dimensional Monitoring and Control of Biomass Combustion".The objective of this project is to conduct a numerical/experimental research to estimate the three-dimensional distribution of temperature and emissivity of the flame and the combustion gases in a pilot furnace that burn biomass supported with oil or LPG burning to provide stability to the combustion process. It will use a spectrometer system to capture radiative emission in narrow spectral bands and a thermographic system to detect thermal images of the flame captured in the visible light range. The spectrometric analysis will be carried forward to observe and determine the radiative emission of the contents of other chemical compounds present in biomass fuel flames, among others, compounds of Sodium (Na) and potassium alkalis (K). The thermal imaging detection system based in the two colors method is used to estimate the temperature and emissivity of the flame. It is planned to install a pilot ring that consists of a vertical modular oven that it can use different fuels simultaneously (GLP/sugar cane bagasse; oil/sugar cane bagasse) in which it will install a thermographic system in the visible light range, and a spectrometer system of narrow spectral range. The latter equipment will be provided and donated by the Chinese government as part of the cooperation project that is part this project. Based on the results and experience gained in the pilot furnace, preliminary temperature measurements will be made at a CPFL plant that use sugar cane bagasse as fuel. (AU)
