Abstract

This project investigates a new steam reforming method for natural gas using the sun as the energy source. The sun can provide radiation that once concentrated may reach high temperatures. These high temperatures are necessary to cause some thermochemical reactions important to produce synthesis gas (syngas). The solar reactor can operate alone or in hybrid configuration to supply a part significant thermal energy for triggering and maintaining the chemical reaction. The main objectives of this project are: - performing an updated study of routes and techniques for steam reforming processes involving solar reactors; - construction of a solar simulator for studies in laboratory in range 10 kw the 20 kw; - design and development of a black cavity attached to thermal reactor for performing gas steam reforming natural; - to carry out performance experimental and numerical solar simulator and thermal reactions.
