Abstract

The main objective of this project consists on the development of connections between one of the edges of the productive chain of components by solidification, i.e., the operational features of such process represented by thermal variables, in the middle way by the macrostructure and microstructure characterized in terms of cellular/dendritic array dimensions and composition redistribution, all of these features linked to the other extreme of the productive chain focused on properties of the final product. A deeper theoretical and experimental look into the possible connecting links of such chain (operational conditions > structure > resulting properties), could contribute to significant results concerning the previous planning of solidification processing with a view of optimizing product characteristics. To attain such objective the procedure planning has been split up to into 3 sub-projects centered on solidification and interconnected in terms of results. (AU)
