Abstract

Psychological children evaluation is one of the most important social needs in Psychology nowadays due to innumerous complaints about children made by psychologists from different areas of study. The psychological evaluation of children currently constitutes a major social demand in the field of Psychology. The Human-Figure Drawing is one of the most widely used tests in the field of children's psychological evaluation, allowing for assessments in both the cognitive and emotional domains. Several authors have proposed different scoring systems for assessing the graphical representations of the human figure. The study uses the DFH-III, proposed by Wechsler, and approved by the Psychological Testing Assessment System - SATEPSI, and the Koppitz scoring system, created in 1968 in the United States. This research aims to investigate the validity of the Human-Figure Drawing by comparing the scores of male and female figures using the abovementioned scoring systems. Schoolchildren, 5-11 years old, from both genders, performed individually and without any prejudice to the schools´ normal activities. We expect to contribute to the quality of the instruments used in children´s psychological evaluations, providing greater reliability in professional settings. (AU)
