Abstract
Hybrid organic-inorganic perovskites based on CH3NH3Pbl3 are a very promising alternative for manufacturing low-cost PV modules, but improvement in device stability is still required to endure that this emerging material can become a reliable technology. The rapid progress on fabricating high efficiency devices happened much faster than the understanding of the basic chemistry involved on the degradation mechanisms observed (but not explained) in these materials. Therefore, we propose probing the degradation of the perovskites by imaging, with nanoscale spatial resolution, how the optoelectronic properties of these devices change upon exposure to moist. We will spatially and temporally resolve how the material is changing with time, and use this information to propose the design of rational devices. Further, we will map the different morphologies of Pbl2 and CH3NH3Pbl3, which are obtained by solvent engineering (diverse solvent mixtures, more coordinating solvents, temperature and deposition times, etc) and correlate the results with device’s efficiency.
