Abstract

Osteoarthritis is the most common cause of pain in the elderly. All structures involved in the knee are affected. The effects of these affections is the power distribution change in the articular surface. This process contributes to a cycle of change and worsening of the disease. The primary goal of treatment of patients with an initial degree of osteoarthritis focuses on pain relief and prevent disease progression reducing stress joint. The orthoses for valgus and varus are a non-invasive and non-pharmacological treatment of these patients. Will be evaluated and treated with the placement of stents to correct valgus or varus knee 60 selected patients knee group. The evaluation will consist of questionnaires and tests panoramic radiograph, isokinetic evaluation, baropodometry and force platforms. The objective is to adapt an existing bracing on the market for use in patients with medial or lateral knee osteoarthrosis and verify its effectiveness at the opening of the joint space, improved pain, function and quality of life.
