Regulatory mechanisms of genic expression in eukaryotes: genes of the cellulases of Trichoderma reesei and the prolamines of cereals

Abstract

The present project deals with a study of the regulatory mechanisms of the genic expression in eukaryotes. This regulation is, generally well conserved and complex, involving a great number of trans-acting and cis-elements. Some of these factors, including the structural domains of the proteins and goal sequences of the DNA, are common to several eukaryotes, even those phylogenetically distant. This characteristics has been used to advantage in the study of the function of these elements in trans-activation experiments, and now will be used employing constructions obtained from the fusion of heterologous domains, taking as models the expression systems of the cellulases of Trichoderma reesei and of the reserve proteins of cereals. This objective should be reached through the isolation and characterization of the various proteic factors and sequences involved in the regulation of these systems. (AU)
