Abstract

The present project focuses on vascular oxidative stress as a mechanistic link between macrophage infiltration, matrix metalloproteinase activation and VSMC dysregulation (apoptosis) in atherosclerotic plaque instability. We aim to determine how the vascular redox environment impacts the atherosclerotic plaque phenotype. In particular we will unravel the role of PTPs in this process. (AU)
