Abstract

The Clinical Hospital Central Laboratory supported in the last 12 months about 441 active research protocols, which required on average 190,000 examinations / year. All these projects are coming from Compexo HC, in particular the Central Institute. All laboratory areas are required and a large number of samples need storage from receiving, or pre-analytical phase until after the exams, post-analytical phase. These projects are very varied, from clinical questions researchers Complex, to drug action evaluation or protocols from other international institutions such as the National Institutes of Health of the United States of North America. Thus, the time required for storage, Freezes - 80 ° C are required to preserve these samples.On the other hand, considering a tertiary hospital as the Hospital das Clinicas, the Central Laboratory performs approximately 1,200,000 tests per month and there is continuing need to store samples that will be useful in monitoring patients, or used in new clinical protocols, validation new tests or equipment.
