Abstract

Since IBGE has published the PNADs microdata of 1992, it made possible to show the new character of population living in the Brazilian country side, including their regions and states. The general goal of this research project is to rebuild the historical series of 1992/98, from the PNADs original data related to the occupied rural population and their families. It is necessary to remember that there was a radical change at the criterion of numeration of population economically active. Since 1992, is included at PEA all the person occupied self-consumption. Besides that, the timing of occupation was decreased from 15 hours to 1 hour per week. These changes make necessary a new tabulation of PNAD from 1992 on to keep the comparability of the former data.
