Abstract

It is unquestionable that animal research contributes to improve human quality of life; we live longer and healthier than ever before. Especially in field of exercise physiology, the animal research demonstrated significant advances to the knowledge of several mechanisms in heath and disease. The studies with animals are conducted with respect, compassion and care. Of course there are differences between animals and people, and exists limitations in animal models, however there are significant similarities, and an invaluable contribution to exercise physiology. We have chosen a list of people to contribute to this special issue with the central goal of integrating their work under the umbrella of animal studies and their contribution to exercise physiology, in health and disease. Your novel contributions would make a significant and timely addition to our issue, and we hope you will agree to join us in this endeavor. The special issue entitled: Animals studies: contribution to exercise Physiology aims to show how important is to perform research in exercise physiology using animal models either for human health or for providing new knowledge in the field.
