Abstract

The Pan-American Polymer Science Conference (PanPoly) will be a scientific conference that will reunite scientists from North and South America to discuss relevant aspects of polymer science. While the scope of the conference is designed to broadly touch on all aspects of polymer science of interest to the Pan-American community, specific topics of sessions will include biopolymers and polymers for medical applications, polymer networks and gels, advances in polymerization methods and techniques, biomass-based polymers, electronically active polymers and polymer-based sensors and biosensors. Prof. Donald A. Tomalia, who is the pioneer in dendrimer chemistry will give a plenary talk that will discuss a curious trend "Mendeleev-like Nanoperiodic Tables for Predicting Supramolecular Assembly of Amphiphilic Dendrons, Dendrimers and Proteins". Prof. Krzysztof Matyjaszewski is the pioneer in ATRP polymerization, a technique that is now globally used in research labs and industry, will be giving a plenary talk about this very important subject. Prof. Cornelia Bohne will be giving a plenary talk that will discuss supramolecular aspects applied to macromolecules and gels. The 11 Keynote speakers and 17 Invited speakers include chemists and engineers from Brazil, USA, Canada and Peru, that are specialists in several areas of Polymer Chemistry. (AU)
