Abstract

The book, includes 7 (seven) essays and a doctoral thesis, addressing a major financial crisis never reached at the University of São Paulo. The causes and impacts of this crisis will be treated in a strictly analytical way and based on official documents of the institution. It will be avoided the use of interviews as forms of verification of the facts, precisely because of the subjectivity in these testimonies, almost always riddled with rhetoric and personal opinions. It seeks to establish a historical record of the budget imbalance and to formulate a set of propositions that avoid its recurrence in the future. The essays, now with appropriate adjustments, were originally published in the USP Journal' Dossier "University in Motion". To this content was added the thesis "Governance and Compliance in University Management", authored by Alexandre Sassaki, from FEA / USP, under the tutorship of Professor Jacques Marcovitch (AU)
