Abstract

Carbon nanotubes (CNT) belong to a new class of promising materials used in different areas of nanomedicine. When the NCT is placed on the muscles under tension, the coils absorb electromagnetic waves originated from the tight muscle an electric current flow through its spiral structure generating thermal energy. The heat caused by the CNT promotes local vasodilatation and increased blood flow. In case of local hypersensitivity, the nanotechnology is effective in relieving pain, allowing the local manipulation without analgesic and anti-inflammatory medication. This is a breakthrough treatment, since these patients chronically abused analgesic drugs to alleviate their pain. OBJECTIVE: It is our goal to raise better rates in body balance recovery when dealing with cervical dizziness. To this end, we intend to observe the effect of NTC in patients with cervical origin of dizziness. METHODS: The subjects will be evaluated about dizziness, pain and limitations of cervical segment. The evaluation consists of clinical questionnaires, clinical evaluation of cervical segment measure of muscle tension and ultrasound of cervical muscles such as quantitative and qualitative documentation of balance, labyrinthine function and muscle response through equipment: computerized dynamic posturography (CDP); evoked myogenic potential (VEMP). After clinical investigation, confirmation of muscle imbalance and painful process, subjects will be randomized into two groups. The study group will receive cervical physiotherapy + active CNT and placebo group cervical physiotherapy and inactive CNT. Patients will follow a routine examination and answer the questionnaire on the first day of study and NCT when will be placed. They will be exchanged on 15th day and new tests performed at 30 and 60 days. The results will be compared to certify the effectiveness of the new technology. (AU)
