Abstract

In Brazil, with the expansion of infrastructure in all regions, several works have faced situations where the stiff clays play a fundamental role in behavior and therefore the design and implementation of several works. Several works of the São Paulo subway, tunnels and embankments cuts elsewhere have provided important information that contribute to the expansion of knowledge and safety of the works. However, few studies in Brazil focused on the characterization of the behavior of stiff clays in the laboratory systematically and field investigations are rare. This project focuses on the stiff clay of Resende formation, but specifically the material to be sampled in the Guamiranga rain water reservoir. In order to provide information about the behavior of these stiff clay, this project aims to perform a thorough investigate of this material through laboratory tests and performing parametric analysis to assess the sensitivity of the analysis to parameters obtained. Testing should be performed both in reconstituted material and undisturbed. (AU)
