Abstract

The main objective of this proposal is to apply a novel approach related to the characterization of tropical trees regarding functional traits related to the sensibility to ozone and leaf isoprene emission. Such knowledge will be applied in community dynamics model in order to test responses in individual performance and consequences in plant community structure. Such objectives will be complimented by the formation of a new partnership between the project teams and exchange of expertise in tropical ecology and isoprene analyses. The strengthening of this research team will be applied to ongoing studies already taking place at the Caatinga, Cerrado and Amazônia biomes. (AU)
