Abstract

Fossil fuels and chemical inputs consumer market incorporate new alternatives in their production chains since economic gains are verified. The environmental advantages alone are not enough to justify investments in this area. The recycling of plastics in Brazil is an activity carried out by recycling companies, which recover these materials through mechanical processes such as separation, grinding, washing, drying, and granulation, among others. The recycled materials are converted into new plastic products, used in the manufacture of several artifacts or they are disposed in landfills. This practice is a palliative solution to the problem of plastic disposal. This project aims to optimize and standardize hydrocarbons products obtained from pyrolysis of plastics (PP, PE and PS) and their mixtures using a fixed bed reactor called SIVOMO-250 and a fluidized bed reactor (model SIVOBI-P- 200), both of Bioware company. Phase I will study the effect of pure plastics and their mixtures on the distribution and quality of the liquid products generated (SIVOMO-250). From the results of this study, tests at different temperature levels will be conducted in the fluidized bed reactor (SIVOBI-P200) using air fluidization agent. It is expected at the end of this phase to verify the technical viability of the transformation of the plastic through pyrolysis and the standardization of fuels. Next, it will be requested the registration of the hydrocarbon fractions in the ANP for its use in industrial applications. In Phase II it will be evaluated the Economic Feasibility of the commercialization of the new fuels derived from plastics and industrial tests will be done. (AU)
