Abstract

According to the Special Survey for Industry 4.0 published by CNI in April 2016, the use of digital technologies in Brazilian industry is not widespread. Of the total industries, 58% are aware of the importance of these technologies to industry competitiveness and less than half use them. For 66% of companies, the cost of deployment is the main internal barrier to the adoption of digital technologies. Practically tied in second place are the lack of clarity in the definition of return on investment and the structure and culture of the company, with respectively 26% and 24% of signings. For companies in sectors that stand out for greater use of digital technology, the difficulty to integrate new technologies or inappropriate IT infrastructure are also significant barriers to the adoption of digital technologies. Still according to the CNI, the high cost, posed as one of the main obstacles, can be mitigated with the implementation in stages.PPI-Multitask is a national company and pioneer in the development and commercialization of MES (Manufacturing Execution Systems) systems in Brazil. The 3rd generation of its PC-Factory MES software product is used in more than 200 factories in Brazil and in more than a dozen factories abroad, in companies of all sizes and in various industry segments. PPI-Multitask stands out in this market for its ability to better meet the technical and commercial needs of the Brazilian industry. In 2015 PC-Factory MES was selected by TOTVS S.A. as the MES product to be shipped with its ERP offerings and marketed under the brand TOTVS MES powered by PPI-Multitask. Now, PPI-Multitask develops PC-Factory MES 4.0 to expand its operations in the international market and to small companies and position itself as the leading national supplier of MES software to meet the demands of Industry 4.0. With its strategy already oriented to the new demands of Industry 4.0, in 2016 PPI-Multitask launched the first version of PC-Factory MES 4.0, the 4th generation of its MES solution, already on a new technology platform oriented to Cloud Computing, integration with IoT Digital Platforms and low TCO (total cost of ownership). The main differential of the product is its flexible architecture, which can be adapted to the profile of the use of the technology of the client and facilitates its adoption by companies with different cultures and with different levels of automation and IT infrastructure. The objective of this project is to continue the evolution of PC-Factory MES 4.0, this phase focused on the development of new functionalities that promote: i) the online management of equipment efficiency, aiming at continuous improvement of OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness); ii) the high accuracy of the control of the movement of materials, products and inventory balances on the factory floor, aiming to support the industry in Brazil in its adaptation to the new bookkeeping requirement of the Production Control and Inventory Control Book (Block K of SPED), part of the Fiscal Digital Bookkeeping - EFD ICMS IPI; iii) systematic inspection and automation of data collection and online analysis of the production process, aiming at continuous improvement of process capability (Cp and Cpk) and product quality; iv) the online monitoring of equipment maintenance occurrences, aiming at increasing reliability (MTBF) and maintainability (MTTR); V) connecting the software infrastructure to business event-oriented services such as Machine Learning, Machine-To-Machine and Machine-To-Man notifications. The expected result of this project is a product with characteristics that enable the adoption of the digital technologies mentioned above, in the short term, in a gradual manner, generating fast return on investment in each of the deployment phases and accompanying the evolution of the maturity of the Automation and IT systems and customer business processes.
