Evaluation of the immunological, nutritional and histopathological profile of malnourished and eutrophic BALB / c mice inoculated with Lacazia loboi

Abstract

Jorge Lobo's disease (or lacaziosis) is a cutaneous-subcutaneous mycosis of chronic evolution caused by Lacazia loboi (L. loboi). There are no reports of immunosuppression caused by malnutrition and possible repercussions on lacaziosis in humans. Research associating the nutritional status and immune response of L. loboi infected BALB / c mice revealed that the infection had no significant influence on the weight of the liver, spleen and body of the malnourished mice inoculated with L. loboi when compared to the malnourished group. It also revealed that previous malnutrition was an unfavorable factor to the viability, number of fungi, the size of the macroscopic lesion of the plantar cushion, the production of H2O2, NO, IL-12, IL-10 and IFN- ³, suggesting that there is great interaction between nutrition and immunity in Jorge Lobo's disease. In order to better evaluate the triad infection, nutrition and immunity, the present study intends to evaluate the effects of protein-calorie malnutrition in isogenic mice of the BALB / c line inoculated with L. loboi, using nutritional, immunological and histopathological parameters, through the evaluation of the concentration serum levels of adipokines (leptin, resistin and adiponectin), cholesterol, triglycerides, iron, total proteins, albumin, proteins C reative, C3 and C4 and cytokines (IL-2, IL-6, IL-10, IL-10, IL-17, IFN-³, TNF-± and TGF-²), and immunohistochemical analysis of the plantar cushion for the determination of CD3 +, CD4 + and CD8 + T lymphocytes, CD20 + B lymphocytes, CD57 + NK cells and regulatory T cells (Foxp3).
