Abstract

The objective of the present proposal is to enhance the ongoing collaboration between IFUSP and the LNS/INFN by facilitating the exchange of researchers and expertise. Both institutions have ongoing research projects which share some technical characteristics, and address important nuclear reaction mechanism topics. The NUMEN project (lNFN) is a large international collaboration to measure double charge exchange reactions which have great relevance also to the neutrino physics. The NC1 project (FAPESP) is a Brazilian collaboration for the investigation of complex reactions involving light weakly bound stable and radioactive nuclei, which have also importance to astrophysics. Both projects involve the performance of long in-beam data taking runs which require the participation of many very qualified researchers, and also involve the development of new high efficiency granularity gamma-ray spectrometers with last generation inorganic scintillators, among other types of detectors and techniques. The exchange of experience and knowledge between the two institutions will be very important for the success of both scientific enterprises. (AU)
