Abstract
Ophthalmological drug therapy is an interesting challenge for modern drug therapy. The anatomy, physiology and biochemistry of the eye makes it an accessible organ for foreign compounds. Therefore, it is common for drugs delivered to the eye to be ineffective or have limited effectiveness. To address this problem and ensure a better therapeutic efficacy of this route of administration, the development of nanosized liquid crystals (cubosomes) is proposed as a new drug carrier system that would present advantages. Cubosomes are primarily intended to advance the formulation of Latanoprost an anti-glaucoma drug. Our aim is to successfully formulate Latanoprost in cubosomes and evaluate its efficacy in in vitro experiments as well as ex vivo and in vivo studies. (AU)
