Abstract

In isotropic and elliptically anisotropic media, the image-wave equations for time and depth remigration are partial differential equations similar to the acoustic wave equation. In this project, we intend to extend the theory of these image waves to more realistic cases of anisotropy like, for instance, transversal isotropy. Beyond the theoretical development, the implementation of numerical methods for the realization of the process is foreseen, in this way providing a new method to analyze the degree of anisotropy in seismic media.
