Abstract

It is intended to measure the alpha activity of Radon and Radon Daughter’s in environments where there were cases of infantile cancer, searching the possible correlation between the illness and the activity of Radon and Radon Daughter’s. For this a methodology developed in the Group of Chronology of the IFGW/UNICAMP will be used, that in such a way makes possible the measurement of the alpha activity of 222Rn as of the decurrently activity of its emitting alpha Daughter’s (218Po and 214Po) in environments of human conviviality. The residences to be investigated are located in an area of the State of São Paulo (involving the city of Campinas, to see map on page 10), where there is Geophysical Data on the activity of both Uranium and Thorium in the ground. These data, along with field measurements of Radon and Radon Daughter’s activity in Campinas and Poços de Caldas, will also be used in the interpretation of the results. It is intended to perform 50 expositions in dwellings where children who had contracted the illness had inhabited.
