Abstract

The neotropical genus Mallodeta Butler, 1876 (Arctiidae, Arctiinae) presently comprises five species: Mallodeta clavata (Walker, 1854), Mallodeta consors (Walker, 1854), Mallodeta parthenii (Fabricius, 1793), Mallodeta sanguipuncta (Druce, 1898) e Mallodeta sortita (Walker, 1854), which are predominantly South American. The goals of this project are (i) to test the monophyly of Mallodeta, (ii) to redescribe and revise the genus and its species, and (iii) to examine phylogenetic relationships of species and their geographical distribution.
