Abstract

The area of the temporomandibular joint (TMJ) presents a limitation in the obtaining of images using conventional X-ray. Computerized tomography (CT) is the most suitable method with high specificity and sensibility that aid in the correct diagnosis, planning and treatment of the bone lesions. The objective of this study is the evaluation of simulated bone lesions in the head of the jaw using computerized tomography. Fifteen dry jaws will be used. Spherical bone lesions will be created with dental drills in the head of the jaw. The lesions will be observed through CT for 2 examiners, independently, in 2 different times, using the methodology of the oblique cuts of suitable CT for the planning of dental implants (DENTASCAN). Later, the images will be compared with the present lesions in the dry jaws and degree of the specificity and sensibility of TC will be evaluated. Statistics methods of Kappa, validity test and test of the Qui-square will be used as statistical methods. (AU)
