Abstract In the presence of a cosmological constant, Minkowski spacetime is no longer a solution of the vacuum Einstein equation. In this case, absence of matter turns out to be represented by a deSitter spacetime. As a consequence, ordinary special relativity based on the Poincaré group is no longer valid, and must be replaced by a deSitter special relativity. The main purpose of this research plan is to further develop this theory, which can be considered as an alternative to the deformed theories known as "doubly special relativity". Applications to quantum kinematics, as well as to quantum gravity, will also be explored. (AU) | |
