Abstract

High-speed cutting researches have been studied in academic and industrial areas more effectively for 15 years. However, most of results from this subject relates to investigations about productivity, production costs, tool performance, CNC command efficiency and machine-tools motion systems. Few works concern in analysing potential influences of this cutting condition on product surface integrity. Due to this possible study opportunity, this project aims at available if the high-speed cutting affects both the fatigue resistance, residual stress and surface finish of workpieces. Ferritic steels with ultrafine grains provided by Materials Engineering Department (DEMa/UFSCar) will be milled in a CNC machining center. This machine was financed by FAPESP in order to create a machining research group at FEIS/UNESP.
