Abstract

For more than 150 years, Argentina and Brazil, kept a mutual relation of mistrust and hostility. Thus, both countries work and develop their defense's policies in an autonomic and antagonist way. However, at the beginnings of the 80's, with the return to power of civil governments, a new era in their bilateral relationships begun, being marked since then by a new vision of mutual relation in defense matters, under the concept of cooperative security.In that way, we propose to investigate the cooperation process in defense matters, developed by Argentina to Brazil during the last twenty-five years, and it's relation with the concept of cooperative security. So we are going to look for the answers of the next questions: How has been the development of the transition's process and the historical change that takes to the development of cooperative measures in Argentina? Which has been the main theoretical developments about cooperative security applicable to the cooperation process between Argentina and Brazil? Which has been the cooperation's mechanisms and how do they had worked? Who are the main actors related with this process in Argentina?
