Abstract

The dimensions of a crystalline matrix may be reduced for developing compact photonic devices. The goal of this work is to study the preparation of shaped microcrystals of LiLa(WO4)2:RE3+ as single crystal fibers (micro-pulling-down technique) and as powder (polymerizable complex method). The phase equilibrium relations of the Li2W2O7 - La2W2O9 pseudo system will be also investigated for optimizing the crystal growth conditions of LiLa(WO4)2. The effect of doping in these processes and in the matrix will be evaluated. For the process control, morphological, structural, thermal and optical characterizations will be carried out. Computational modeling of the crystallographic structure of this doped material will be performed in order to compare the predicted results with the experimental data of microcrystals.
