Abstract

Through the Faculty of Representation, Reinhold proposes unifying all the theory of knowledge, which he considers to be separated all over Kant's theory. The consciousness is the base of the faculty of representation, by with the possibility of representing is well determined for the subject who represents. This principle of consciousness has no presupposition since it is analytical and has immediate evidence, and so, it doesn't demand transcendental deduction as Kant's theory; the latter has synthetic preposition as its principle. Reinhold breaks the form/matter dichotomy setting up some degrees of representations on the knowledge apparatus and because of that he makes the German Idealism process started, which will no longer accept the separation of these heterogeneous realms. Our efforts will be concentrated in this transition movement and on the problematic questions it origins, as well as investigating any possible Reinhold's cunning because he seems to ignore the third Critical of Kant all over his theory, once this work could provoke considerable changes on his system. Then, our aim in this work will be to analyze the Reinhold's work, to examine important problems of the Kantian philosophy that are configured there and to make a link that we believe to be legitimate between the Theory of Representation and the Critical of the Judgment, or more specifically, between the principle of consciousness [Satz des Bewusstseins] and the state-of-mind (Gemützustand).
