Abstract

Old concrete pavements sometimes require intensive repair maintenace due to fatigue cracks and faulting at joints; such distresses disclose low bearing capacity as well as low serviceability. Conventional technique for restoring concrete pavements are laying asphalt carpets that commonly present premature problems due to reflective cracks.During the early 90"s old concrete pavements in European roads were subjected to innovative recycling processes by grounding concrete slabs, and the recycled aggregate was used for reconstruction of concrete slabs in large proprotions, defining an actual full recycling of concrete, allowing to built the so called "green concrete pavements".In this project the main target will be the study of recycled concrete pavement mixtures looking for a previously defined flexural strength, with main focus on the effects of the recycled aggregate fines (from the old mortar) in the strength, porosity and the rigidity of the recycled concrete.
