Abstract

Porous ceramics are currently use in several industrial processes where heat generation or conservation is important. This suitable performance is the result of combining low thermal conductivity of porous materials and ceramics high refractoriness. One important concern of these systems is the loss of thermal insulation in temperatures above 1200ºC due to the sintering and densification. This project aims to produce nanoporous (therefore highly insulating) ceramics with hierarchically organized structures, in order to minimize this effect, at the same time, that the refractoriness of the material is preserved.
