Abstract

The aim of this 2-years study is to characterize the pedological framework and the hydrochemical functioning of a small depression representative of the Nhecolândia wetland. The study will be carried out in 4 steps: (1) The survey of the depression and its surrounding highland using electromagnetic induction methods. Georeferenced numerical data will be submitted to a geostatistical treatment for the elaboration of maps; (2) A structural analysis of the soil cover based on the maps drawn during step 1; (3) A set of piezometers fitted with automatic data logger will be installed in order to monitor the main characteristics of the watertable (water level, temperature and electrical conductivity). (4) At least, a laboratory characterisation of the soil horizons and of the major elements in water will be carried out.
