Abstract The mammography continues to be the most important technique of image for the breasts. One is about the method of choice for the population tracking of the cancer of breast in assintomatics women and is the first technique of indicated image to evaluate the majority of the mammary clinical alterations, being able to lead to the precocious diagnosis of the breast cancer. However for a diagnostic insurance a minute treatment of the factors is necessary that influence in the quality of the mammographic image such as: conditions of use of the involved equipment in this procedure, system of acquisition and register of image and ability of the radiologist. The control of these parameters tends to assure the reduction of the repetition of the examination and/or unnecessary dose to a so radiosensible region. In the mammography the dose is esteem in the tissue to glandular of the breast, which is called Mean Glandular Dose (DGM). This in turn depends on parameters as composition and thickness of the breast and characteristics of mammographic specter. The quantification and composition of the tissues that constitute the breast are carried through in subjective way for specialists of the radiology area, being able to have influence in the esteem DGM. Of this form this study it has as objective and original scientific contribution, the fabric classification distinct that constitutes the breast, from an automatic method, esteem the DGM in distinct compositions and mammary thicknesses. In this research the DGM will be esteem using the code Monte Carlo N-particle (MCNP4C). This code propitiates the determination of the factor of conversion (g) and air-Kerma for estimate of the DGM. | |
