Abstract With the miniaturization of computers and the development of wireless networks arises the opportunity to introduce significant development in many science fields and economic activities though Wireless Sensors Networks. In many applications of this technology, it is necessary to implement services to delivery confidentiality, authenticity or integrity to the data being transfered. These services can be obtained trough security mechanisms such as symmetric cryptography, message authentication codes and key management, however, conventional security algorithms are not suitable for Wireless Sensor Networks. The main goal of this project is to develop a wireless sensor network security architecture. This architecture will run in the application layer, thus, enabling greater flexibility when using multiple keys and runtime security level changes, therefore saving network resources according to the security level needed by the application.
