Abstract

The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between the concentrations of ozone and cane agribusiness in Araraquara, SP. Significant concentrations of this substance in the troposphere show intense photochemical activity due to Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) and nitrogen oxides (NOx) in the presence of sunlight. Samples of atmospheric air in Araraquara, SP, will be collected before and during the harvest of cane sugar, via passive sampling combined with active collecting in strategic locations to determine ground-level ozone and VOCs. The qualification and quantification of the latter characterize the possible sources of atmospheric emissions in the region and serve as a subsidy to relate the concentrations of ozone on human activities.
