Abstract The aim of this project is the development of electroanalytical systems and methodologies that allows the analysis of molecules involved in cell signalization (cell released substances) using miniaturized systems.Microfabrication techniques will be used for the systems development here proposed. Miniaturized prototypes disposals for cell cultures, electrochemical detectors, microchannels and injection systems, and others, shall be constructed along the present study. Some advantages of those systems that may be highlighted are: easily prototypes can be made; versatility for the introduction of modifications, portability and low reactants consumption.Many techniques will be employed for the analysis of the extracellular cell components released from the cells of the biological system in study. Classical electroanalytical techniques as cyclic voltammetry (for the study of the system); amperometry (as a form of detection) and electrophoresis capilar for an eventual separation of the analytes in the case of more complexes systems.Prof. Dr. Shaker Chuck Farah (member of the IQ-USP Biochemical Department) will collaborate with our group providing the cells. Prof.´s Shaker group study the Quorum Sensing phenomenon. A bacterial communication system that uses substances called autoinducers. The development of a system that allows a quick and trustable analysis would be very interesting, and shall be used as a pilot study for the viability of the techniques about to be used. | |
