Abstract

This research looks for discover how the scolar manuals production of México, during Porfirio Díaz government (1876-1911), has helped the construct of the past representation in México. Will be analysed, comparatively, six manuals produced of a intelectual group who wanted to establish the cultural unity in the country, that until then had its population so distinct ethnic, linguistic and historically. The great efforts of porfiriato to homogenize mexican people had the objective to create what kind of Mexican citizen? To firm itself like a country in full development, like said the positivist doctrines of "progress" so present in México, which heroes were ellected like Mexican simbols? What the choose of these heroes (and the silence of others possibles) brought to the Mexican people? Which were the politicans and simbolics uses os these figures? This study object permits, through all kinds of representation presents in the scolar manuals, recognize two "Méxicos" too much distincts that lived together inside the Díaz government: otherwise, the onde that needed ransom its indigenous deeper roots to construct its present and afirm itself and, on the other hand, a country that venerate the French model of life and had a elite who denies any native forefather, like was passing by a new colonization process - now, a "imaginary colonization" with they approval.
