Abstract

This paper proposes to study the effects of image direction in political discourse aired on television in the Free Time for political propaganda - political campaigning - from democratization of the country and reaching the next election campaign, ie from 1989 to 2010. This is a proposal to extend and deepen my master's thesis, when I noticed a certain direction of gaze operated by the image in motion (TV's own support) within the syncretic set of political campaigning. My proposal is to verify the operation of the element in the formation of imagery effects of meaning that can be seen on the campaign trail in order to build a set to be held by the addition of the verb (oral and written) with the image. Since the research aims to cover a longer period (1989 - 2010) seeks to observe whether, as regards the image in the media of television, there was, over time in political television show, changes in the effects way operated by the picture on the television, to a direction of the gaze, and how these changes have taken place. Therefore, providing in principle, a set of discursive analysis with sequences of the programs of the time of the election years from 1989 to 2010 - later, other media circulating discourses may be incorporated as they proceed with the work. My interest lies in the investigation of how political discourse has been transformed over the years, and its transmission through television is most outstanding during the period of pre-election campaign compared to other periods where there is a movement of political discourse. As a hypothesis it is assumed that the statement made possible by the joint modal verb and image attracts the eye - as a kind of trigger that points to where "see" - and helps promote the purposes of meaning.
