Abstract

Based on the determination of the Federal Constitution that the farm should fulfill their social function, the main objective of this study is to examine the alternatives of implementing this concept in the particular case of indigenous lands, according to their main characteristics and barriers. It is intended to work with questions concerning about the concept of social function of property, the right of Indian land, the demarcation of indigenous lands in Brazil and the Agrarian Law, the transformations considering national policies. The demarcation process of the "Terra Indígena Raposa Serra do Sol" in Roraima (RR) will be the object of study to allow the contextualization of the issue, pursuing a better understanding of indigenous reality.
