Abstract

This study involves the investigation of an outbreak of Burkholderia cepacia bacteremia that occurred from January through February 2008 in 2 units: hematology and bone marrow transplant. Initially an investigation involving patient data, environment, material and drugs used in the units was performed. The second phase will involve the study of the isolates: confirmation of identification, susceptibility testing and molecular typing.
