Abstract

This project will be conducted to evaluate the effect of pre-partum supplementation of cows on timeline fetal and productive performance of their offspring. The experiment will be conducted in Experimental Station Hildegard Von Pritzelwiltz Georgina, in Londrina - PR, belonging to the Foundation for Agrarian Studies Luiz de Queiroz, linked to High College of Agriculture Luis de Queiroz. The experiment is divided in two phases. Phase I will be held at 600 Nellore beef cows, pregnant with four bulls known, in the last third of gestation and assigned to two treatments with 300 cows each. Being a - Treatment control (receiving only mineral mix before parturition) and 2 - Treatment with supplementation (0.5 kg daily receiving soybean meal plus a mineral mix in before parturition). For phase II of experiment, half cows from each group of phase I and their offspring will be allocated again in two groups in phase II. Phase II covers the period of supplementation of the offspring of the second month after calving until weaning. Treatments are: 3 - Treatment control (receiving only mineral mix) and 4 - Treatment with supplementation (receiving supplementation in creep-feeding), and providing ad-libitum on creep-feeding. At that stage the cows of both treatments will only mineral mix in trough covered. (AU)
