Abstract

This project aims to study the patterns of larval transport of paralarvae of the squid Loligo plei Blainville, 1823, which is a species of ecological and commercial relevance off São Paulo coast. This goal will be pursued by using a coupled individual-based model (IBM)-Regional Ocean Modelling System (ROMS) model approach. Because of the virtual absence of this information for the species in the study area, the results will be useful to help to understand the species recruitment, and consequently the inter-annual fluctuations in the catches. Ultimately, the results of this project may be useful for management decisions. In addition, the results obtained in the preset project may be applied to other commercially-valuable finfish and shellfish species off São Paulo coast. (AU)
