Abstract

This proposal aims at the synthesis and optical characterization of rare earth doped/undoped nanocrystalline powders and glass ceramics; and aimed particularly to understand the various optical phenomenona (fluorescence, nonlinear and energy transfer processes) in rare earth doped materials. Efforts will be made to enhance the optical efficiency by varying the host compositions, rare earth combinations, concentration and also the synthesis process in order to develop luminescent devices based on these materials.
