Abstract

This project intends to conclude a lexicological analysis of birds names in juruna language, for future application in an existing lexicographic study, which looks for the elaboration of juruna-portuguese dictionary. The results comes from a field work data collection, in participative research, of ethnographic shape. The project intends do contribute to a Brazilian indigenous language knowledge and documentation, proceeded from juruna family, tupi stock, showing relevance to historical-comparative and lexicographic studies, and to General Linguistics. Above of it, the research has great importance to juruna community, for proposing a material which could be utilized, among others, by bilingual teaching.
