Abstract With the desconstruction of coronelismo system on local politics due to urban and social transformations ocurred along the decades, from 1930 to 1960, mainly in the inland cities of São Paulo State, there was a professionalization of political activity followed by the formation of political parties in national bases. However, after the promulgation of the Constitution of 1988, through the valorization of subnational levels of government, the towns were rescued in the national political life and they had the possibility to formulate their own Constituions through the Organic law and decide about public, administrative and develop management politics. With new powers, politicians from local sphere, as mayors and councilors, began to have to do with an important actor inside the new institucional situation: the political parties. This research aims to analyze the coordination role of decision making developed by political parties acting in the Legislature of the Araraquara city, situated in the central region of SP State, and distant 270 km from capital. The analyze comprises the period from 1997 to 2008, in that there was three Legislatures: from 1997 to 2000, from 2001 to 2004 and from 2005 to 2008. | |
