Abstract

Inorganic and organic nanoparticles are widely used in several areas of science: chemical, biochemical, biological, biomedical, pharmaceutical, among others, with great efficiency. Due to relevant antimicrobial properties, nanoparticles of silver stand out principally due to its application in preparations of numerous antimicrobial materials, for example, products for oral use, domestic, wearing and surgical materials. Since the process of preparation of silver nanoparticles via biosynthesis in microorganisms is biotecnologically viable, this project involves the production of silver nanoparticles, and nanoparticles detailed characterization, and evaluation of both antimicrobial action and textile adhesion. Physico-chemical and biochemical techniques shall be applied in the characterization of nanoparticles and proteins and peptides that generally surround these particles, in the form of an over-layer. It is expected that the obtained results can contribute to understand better the processes of formation of nanoparticles and that these silver particles have application in the area of biomaterials.
